Why did my ampersand break the URL?

Inside a query string, "&" separates parameters. If a value itself contains "&", it must be encoded as %26 — otherwise the server reads it as the start of a new parameter and your value is truncated.

What is the difference between %20 and +?

Both can mean a space, but not everywhere. "+" means space only in application/x-www-form-urlencoded data (classic form submissions). In a path segment, "+" is a literal plus. %20 means space in every position, which makes it the safer choice.

Do I need to encode Turkish characters?

Yes, for maximum compatibility. Characters like ş, ğ and ı are encoded as UTF-8 bytes in percent form. Modern browsers display them decoded in the address bar, but they travel encoded.

Is my URL sent to the server?
